Atlas notes

Orient’s Mako and Ray lines spent a decade being the diver you bought before you understood movements, and then Kamasu showed up and made the entry price a little more serious. Same 200 meter case language as its cheaper siblings, and the same F6922 automatic underneath, hacking and hand-winding included: the real gap to Mako II and Ray II is sapphire over mineral crystal and sharper lume, not the movement.

The dimensions are sensible rather than showy: 41.8mm across, 12.8mm thick, 47mm lug to lug, on 22mm lugs wide enough to take a proper NATO. Orient rates the F6922 at approximately 40 hours of reserve and 200 meters of water resistance, under a sapphire crystal and behind a screwed down crown, all as listed on Orient’s own storefront, where the Kamasu currently sells for $375 against a listed regular price of $580 that functions more as a permanent anchor than an actual price anyone pays.

Here is the gap Orient will not close: it never calls this an ISO 6425 diver, and it should not, because nothing on its own product page claims that testing regime the way Citizen states plainly for the NY0086 two aisles over. If a certified rating is the point, buy the Citizen. If the point is an in-house movement that hand-winds and hacks under real sapphire for the same money, the Kamasu wins that argument, and I would take the trade.

The Seiko 5 Sports SRPD55 undercuts it by close to a hundred dollars and matches the hacking and hand-winding trick with its own 4R36, at the cost of a plainer case, though its rated reserve runs an hour longer on paper. Pick between them on the case shape you actually want on your wrist, because on paper the two sit closer together than either fan base likes to admit.
