Seiko's 40.5mm answer to a very long argument: the 62MAS shape, a 6R35 banking 70 hours, a 200m Diver's rating, and a clasp with no micro-adjust.

Atlas notes

Seiko released its first diver in 1965 and then spent the next five and a half decades being asked, loudly and continuously, to bring it back. The SPB143 is that answer, cut for wrists that exist now: 40.5mm across, 47.6mm lug to lug, 13.2mm thick.

The case is where the money went. The cut of the flanks, the Zaratsu-style polish on the lugs, applied indices instead of printed ones, and AR-coated sapphire over the top. Inside, the 6R35 banks 70 hours, which is the practical difference between a watch that has stopped by Sunday lunchtime and one still running when you reach for it on Monday. The rating is 200m Diver’s. Not a marketing number, a category.

Then there is the clasp, and the Atlas is not going to be polite about it. There is no micro-adjust. On a 200m diver, at this price, that is the one specification a buyer is entitled to expect, and Seiko did not supply it. That does not change the verdict. It belongs inside it.

The cheaper answer is already on this page, in the rail below: the Citizen NY0086 does the same job, ISO rated, for roughly a third of the money. What the Seiko buys over it is finishing and more than twice the running time off the wrist. Whether that is worth the gap is a question about you rather than about the watch.
