Atlas notes

There is no version of this catalogue that leaves the square G-Shock out, and no argument against it that survives contact with the price.

The U revision keeps the 1983 DW-5000C silhouette and adds the two things that turn a cheap watch into a lifetime watch: a solar cell under the display, and a radio receiver that pulls the time off an atomic clock signal on six bands. You will never set it. You will never open it.

Nothing else in the Atlas scores 25 for value, and the reason is arithmetic rather than affection. No battery to replace. No service interval. No rate to regulate. 200m of water resistance wrapped around a case design that four decades of people have failed to break. Put it against watches at ten times the money and it gives up finishing, then gives up nothing else at all.

Wearability is where it pays for all of that. Resin, digital and unmistakably a G-Shock, which means it goes with roughly half of what most people own, and no amount of engineering will change that. Casio’s thickness figure could not be machine-verified for the sheet above, so it points at Casio’s own page rather than a number we invented.
